What is A Bridge to Rojava about?
Elke and Günter promote the twinning project between the Syrian city of Derik and the Berlin district of Friedrichshain - Kreuzberg. The documentary shows the Kurdish northeast of Syria, also known as Rojava. The two are accompanied on their journey by the mayors of Derik, Feremez and Rojin, who give us a deep insight into the current social developments and challenges. Through the journey with Elke and Günter, a vivid picture of a country in transition emerges and we get a feel for the people and life in Rojava. It blends documentary elements. The film reflects a distinct Germany style and perspective. The story is brought to life by directors Ekrem Heydo and Bavê Teyar. With a runtime of 1h 5m, it offers a concise viewing experience.
