What is Anywhere about?
The global pandemic rages on even as authorities loosen regulations, leaving two immunocompromised Anishinaabe lovers vulnerable to a world that wants to abandon them. George lives with his Gokmis on a northern reserve, while his partner Eileen lives in Toronto. The universal stressors of long-distance relationships are exacerbated by eugenics, colonial violence, and misogyny. After an intense day, George and Eileen find themselves at a crossroads, prompting George to find answers in their traditional Anishinaabe medicine ways. The story is brought to life by director Evelyn Pakinewatik. With a runtime of 19 minutes, it offers a concise viewing experience.
