Janelle Vaughn Dowell and Sen Morimoto’s Elsewhere evokes feelings of being just that, whether in mind, body, or soul. Inspired by Eddie S. Glaude Jr.’s 2020 book Begin Again: James Baldwin's America and Its Urgent Lessons for Our Own, a provocative acknowledgement that casts the airy imagery of people at rest and at play (but never at work or partaking in any other kind of physical or emotional labor) in a more symbolic light.
