What is Katrin about?
The first part of the “Maxhütte Cycle”, featuring six scenes from the control room of the old rolling mill at Maxhütte-Unterwellenborn. The camera follows slab mill operator Katrin Hensel in her control room. Despite the intense noise and production pressure, Katrin always maintains a clear overview, gives precise instructions, notes down completed orders, and operates countless buttons and levers—sometimes while simultaneously using the phone and intercom. It blends documentary elements. The film reflects a distinct East Germany style and perspective. The story is brought to life by director Joachim Tschirner. With a runtime of 18 minutes, it offers a concise viewing experience.
