What is Notes on a Pine Forest about?
Based on films depicting military excersises at the Baltic Sea island Gotland, from the 1930s until today. Through montage, the film is following cinematic tropes in the source material, and studies its materiality and connotations. The voiceover is based on the french writer Francis Ponge’s poem Le carnet du bois de pins (1947). The film reflects a distinct Sweden style and perspective. The story is brought to life by director Nadja Ericsson. With a runtime of 11 minutes, it offers a concise viewing experience.
