What is Pimeä historia about?
Finland's history contains moments and deeds that are dark in themselves—or obscure because they remain largely unknown. How do these events relate to the present day, and why are they still worth discussing? Historian Teemu Keskisarja explores these questions in this six-part documentary series. Joined by primary school teacher Marko Kämäräinen, Keskisarja travels from modern urban Finland to the Hailuoto refugee camp, the Åland witch trials, the early years of Mannerheim, civil war-era Vyborg, the Raate Road battlefield, and the Helsinki of Finnish terrorists. It blends documentary elements. The series reflects a distinct FI style and perspective.
