A baptism of fear awaits you at... THE KINGDOM. The Kingdom is the most technologically advanced hospital in Denmark, a gleaming bastion of medical science. A rash of uncanny occurrences, however, begins to weaken the staff's faith in science – a phantom ambulance pulls in every night, but disappears; voices echo in the elevator shaft; and a pregnant doctor's fetus seems to be developing much faster than is natural. It blends comedy, drama and mystery elements. The series reflects a distinct Germany, Denmark and France style and perspective. The story is shaped by its creator, Lars von Trier.
The Kingdom has been releasing episodes between November 1994 and October 2022 across 3 seasons. So far there are 13 released episodes, giving you plenty of story to catch up on before the next drop. Historically there have been longer waits of around 170 months between seasons, which can explain why some fans search early for hints about the next release.
The main cast includes Søren Pilmark, Ghita Nørby and Birgitte Raaberg. Behind the scenes, it is created by Lars von Trier, directed by Lars von Trier, shaped by showrunner Marlene Billie Andreasen, Morten Egholm and Peter Aalbæk Jensen.
